The quickest of updates

Yep, the quickest of updates!

We are fine.  Plenty of dashing around, here there and everywhere.

You might be intrigued by the above painting which we have recently acquired.  It is by an Emmiline Atkins and thought to date from around 1900.  The painting itself is unmistakably of a scene in our house and so it is nice that we now have it.

There is no special value.  Although the artist is competent, she is virtually unknown and therefore there is no point in thinking we have an undiscovered masterpiece.

Instead we have something which is of intrinsic value.  A glimpse into history and of a previous occupant.  Although the furniture has change, so too the wall paper, some things remain the same.  The wood door frame, the door itself, the stairs, the wood panelling, even the darkly painted door with stained glass windows (although that is upstairs now).

We are both juggling our time well, keeping a reasonable balance between our different activities. Quite a lot of time is spent driving my mother around.

Let me tell you now, I probably won’t blog again until September, when there will be plenty of news!
