You might remember me?  I have been known to use your online live chat for help with the background technicalities of my blogs.  More recently I have called your helpline and had the opportunity to helpfully talk through the issues.

There’s probably no reason why you should remember me, after all you must be hosting millions of websites.  However, I’m the person with the very English accent, who’s always frightfully well spoken and does his best to keep on track with his middle England accent.  On a good day, I have been told, my accent is very Oxbridge or even like those old fashioned BBC accents.

The reason why I have been in touch recently is my need to have an SSL certificate and also to arrange for the Code Guard back-up.  In all the years I have been blogging, I’ve never had anything serious go wrong where resorting to a back-up would have saved the day.  Perhaps I’ve been lucky? Actually I’m super excited about the SSL certificate because it will make my blogs more visible to search engines, as well as making them a little more secure.

Thanks to HostGator the SSL certificate was installed quickly and there was a very helpful email which came my way, explaining how I need to make sure any http hits are automatically redirected to the https version.  I’m a bit perplexed by this.  I’ll try and figure this out but it’s nice to know I can find quite a few answers on your Support pages and there’s always the online chat or helpline which I can call.

My technical knowledge is still very limited but as I rapidly head towards my early retirement I am eager to get on top of all of this so I can blog even more.  My first ever blog (on blogspot) actually got to the dizzy heights of 20,000 hits a month, so I hope to head that way again.  I love the interactions I get from readers, plus the approaches I sometimes get from commercial offers – so I’ll definitely be up for those!

Back to my feedback.  I would like to especially mention Ryan and Matthew. They were both so good at the way they stayed calm and took their time in talking me through my query and moved things on so nicely.  Both conversations were reassuring, they made me feel I was in safe hands. A lesser company would have been rushed, impossible to understand but the help I had from Ryan and Matthew was exemplary – so a huge thank you!
