The quickest of newsy updates. Just waking up on this grey, drab Monday morning in Bradford, Yorkshire and then back home later today for my operation tomorrow in hospital!
I have come to Bradford for some training with Christians Against Poverty, the charity who I am volunteering with at home, via our church. As the name suggests it is about supporting those who are in poverty, debt and need a little help. More about this another time.
Then tomorrow I am due in hospital at 7am for my prostate operation. Yes 7am. Wow that’s early but it does mean I am included in the morning list of surgery and I might stand a sporting chance of going home later in the day. It is keyhole surgery so should be fairly straightforward. I am really looking forward to this as it is a significant step forward. Also I’m feeling a little apprehensive about how things will be afterwards; I have been warned I may never return to “normal” afterwards.
The operation date has come about through submitting a formal complaint to the hospital. The immediate response (other than a formal acknowledgement) was getting a phone call offering me this slot as there had been a cancellation. Naturally I grabbed it as I have been waiting just over six months. I was quite pleased with my letter of complaint, probably a blog post in itself!
