My DIY mojo

Replacing a bathroom radiator Lately my DIY mojo has dipped and this has occurred at a less than ideal time but our friend Clive has rescued us.  Recently we had a little flood in our bathroom (you’ll need to ask Rachel about that!) and this has necessitated the need for a makeover in our bathroom.  I’m not feeling as confident as usual when it comes to DIY but I’m sure I’ll snap out of this soon.

Clive RochesterBathrooms are always tricky when it comes to decorating.  With everything else going on right now, we decided to enlist the help of our friend Clive.  Although the task is only covering half of our tiny bathroom, this has involved tiling, wall papering, painting, adding a new skirting board and replacing the radiator.  I’m not that brave at the moment but thankfully Clive is.

As you can see from the photo at the top, Clive is midway replacing a radiator for us.  It is more-or-less a like-for-like swap.  We are doing this now as there were some signs of rust appearing and this seemed to be a logical time to have it replaced.  I have never changed a radiator before but thankfully Clive was pretty relaxed at doing this.  I was super-pleased when the heating came on as normal to warm the house, this missing radiator hasn’t stopped the rest working.

The nice thing about having Clive do this, is that he just gets on and works methodically through the tasks.  I reckon Clive has got a cunning plan in his head, listing all the different tasks in the right order with all the right tools and gadgets lined up.  He’s one of those highly methodical, organised kind of folk – almost annoyingly so!  As we know Clive well, we have no issues with leaving him in the house to simply get on with things anyway.

Trouble is, I think I could get used to the idea of someone else doing things around the house.  I must snap out of this; before I have enjoyed doing DIY things and have found it to be rewarding but for now my DIY mojo seems to have gone AWOL.  Back soon, hopefully…..
