Weirdest sandwich so far

my weirdest sandwich so farIn our house I am known for some weird food, the kind of thing nobody would come close to eating unless they were starving on a desert island.  So here’s possibly my weirdest sandwich so far.

It is made with tomato and red onion, both grilled on a slice of toast.  I am sure I could wax lyrical about the health benefits of these and why tomatoes are allegedly better for us once they are cooked but for now, just take my word for it.  Add to this some dark tahini and, for a little moisture, some Hellman’s mayonnaise.

Honestly, it tasted pretty good, even though I say it myself.  I dreamt up this weird combination while I was out running.  Often when I’m running my mind drifts onto healthy living things.  So once I’d got back from my 40 minute run, I really fancied creating this little masterpiece and set to work as soon as I got back.  Literally!  In fact I was still in my running shoes and slightly stinky gear as I pulled this sandwich together.

And it tasted great.  I loved it.  So healthy too.  Very conscious of how the dark tahini is a good way of getting a few good unsaturated oils into me, along with umpteen other excellent nutrients.  You can see this little article by mindbodygreen.com on why tahini is such an excellent food stuff.

There’s nothing else for it, I’m just going to have to experiment with a few  more utterly weird food combinations.  I already have peanut butter with mayonnaise to which everyone thinks I’m bonkers.  Then there’s the pond weed which makes its way into salads, or should I say compost.  I should say I have listed a few of our unique food words here in this post.
